Orientation – Orientation and Tutoring Projects (POT)

POT (Orientation and Tutoring Plans) aim to improve the quality of orientation and tutoring by promoting actions designed to support young people both in choosing their academic path and during their first years at university. Activities include ad hoc courses and teaching workshops for students, as well as training sessions dedicated to university tutors. Opportunities for collaboration and professional growth are offered to teachers to promote a synergistic action between upper secondary schools and the university.

POT Project Prometheus 2.0

The POT Prometheus 2.0 project is a national interuniversity initiative for which Prof. Caterina Primi of the NEUROFARBA Department—also President of the School of Psychology—serves as the scientific coordinator for the University of Florence. The project focuses on producing and implementing educational materials to establish good orientation practices for different target groups: university orientation tutors, and upper secondary school students and teachers. It includes training on “transferable/soft skills” for university orientation tutors and a discipline-specific orientation intervention titled “La psicologia che non ti aspetti” (“The Psychology You Wouldn’t Expect”). The intervention consists of in-class laboratory activities (three sessions led by appropriately trained orientation tutors) aimed at increasing students’ knowledge of Psychology as a scientific discipline. The ultimate goal is to reduce stereotypes and prejudices commonly found in the general population regarding the discipline, fostering a more realistic perception of the multidisciplinary nature of the study path and the variety of career opportunities.
