Ge.R.A.S – Generating Resources to Break Down Stereotypes

Scientific coordinator: Prof. Manila Vannucci.

The Ge.R.A.S project – “Combating ageism: Generating Resources to Break Down Stereotypes” – forms part of initiatives aimed at preventing and combating ageism, understood as a set of age-based stereotypes, prejudices and forms of discrimination.

The project was developed through a co-design process involving four Departments of the University of Florence:

  • NEUROFARBA Department, lead partner;
  • Department of Education, Languages, Intercultures, Literatures and Psychology (FORLILPSI);
  • Department of Experimental and Clinical Medicine (DMSC);
  • “G. Parenti” Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications (DiSIA).

The project aims to raise awareness among the public, particularly people over the age of 65, about ageism and the effects of internalising misconceptions about ageing, while promoting informed and stereotype-free ageing.
